MB240 Field Service Study Notes – Not To Exceed (NTD)

I’m preparing for my Dynamics 365 Field Service (MB240) renew certification, and as part of my journey, I’m creating blog posts that reflect my study notes and revision. I hope that these posts will serve as a helpful resource for anyone else working toward the same goal.

Based on past exam patterns, Microsoft frequently includes questions that require selecting multiple correct answers and organizing them into a specific sequence. These types of questions assess both knowledge and the ability to logically structure information. Therefore, candidates should be prepared to both identify the correct options and arrange them in the required order.

In this study note, we discuss NTE.

Why Needed?
Ensure Field Technicians Do Not Exceed a budget

How
A limit is set for a visit, to ensure the technician DNE that limit.

What Limit?
Limits are related to Price or Cost or Both

NTE Types:
Price, Cost, Price & Cost Margin

Rules
– Price & Cost Margin always is the utilised if specified
– Account Lookup takes priority over other options
– Account – first Service Account then Billing Account
– Other options are Functional Location, Priority , Work Order Type, Incident Type , (Trade)

Settings to Enable
– In Settings => General => Field Service Settings => Features
– Enable “Not To Exceeed”
-Refresh and after 1 minute the Navigation to ‘Not To Exceed’ should be available

Work Order
– WO (Financial Section) has two fields ‘Cost Not to Exceed’ and ‘Price not-to-exceed’
– WO Related has option ‘Work order not-to-exceed’
